X-Com: Enemy Unknown getting PC-exclusive sequel in November

It's been nearly three years since 2K and Firaxis rebooted the storied X-Com franchise with the well-received Enemy Unknown. Since then, fans of alien-themed, turn-based strategy game have had to subsist on the slight expansion of 2013's Enemy Within. That ends in November, when a project known as X-Com 2 will come out exclusively on PC.

The official announcement is pretty light on details, but does lay out a story set 20 years in the future, where the X-Com force is a secret paramilitary organization fighting back against a totalitarian world government controlled by alien invaders. As far as gameplay, the new game will feature procedurally generated levels, five "updated" soldier classes, and more customization options and enemy types, according to 2K.

IGN has the first trailer, which eschews any gameplay footage in favor of a cut-scene highlighting the game's authoritarian future. The announcement also includes a single screenshot, shown above, featuring an X-Com soldier preparing to ambush two government soldiers in a slightly refined version of the Enemy Unknown interface.
