On Thursday Pornhub launched “Pornhub Premium,” which will supply unlimited viewing of select adult titles in high definition and without ads for $9.99 a month. The business model echoes Netflix's, and Corey Price, Pornhub's Vice President, said in the company's press release that the brand wants to become the “Netflix of Porn.”
The porn platform, which is a subsidiary of Luxembourg company MindGeek, said that an Android and a Roku app will be available soon, but mention of an iOS app was noticeably absent, due to Apple's disdain for adult content in its app store. The Pornhub Premium package will include about 100,000 full-length exclusive videos as well as other existing Pornhub content.
Pornhub will be licensing content from third-party rights holders, as well as MindGeek's other properties, which include YouPorn, Brazzers, and Digital Playground, among others. According to CNBC, while rumors had suggested that MindGeek would try to consolidate its studio holdings, a MindGeek representative said that was not the case in Pornhub Premium.
