The season five finale of Game of Thrones set a piracy record Monday, with more than a quarter million people sharing the show, which aired Sunday on HBO.
Torrent-tracking site TorrentFreak reported that more than 258,000 people were seeding and leeching "Mother's Mercy." That bested last year's record of about a quarter million file sharers pilfering the same item—the finale for last year's season of Game of Thrones. The site expects that the new episode alone will be illegally downloaded as many as 10 million times in the days to come, also another record.
