New Last Jedi trailer shows Luke on the Millenium Falcon

A new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released during Game 7 of the World Series last night. It starts with a nostalgia-inducing shot of a grey-bearded Luke Skywalker walking into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. Then there's a voiceover from Kylo Ren, the villain of the third trilogy, saying "let the past die."

Of course, the eighth installment of the Star Wars saga has no intention of letting the past die. The previous film in the series, The Force Awakens, was practically a remake of the original Star Wars, culminating with the heroes destroying the Death Star—sorry, I mean the Starkiller Base.

Trailers for the new film suggest that it will continue this tradition by closely mirroring the story arc of The Empire Strikes Back. Rey travels to a distant planet to receive Jedi training from Master Luke Skywalker, just as Luke once traveled to Dagobah to train with Master Yoda. Last month's trailer had a hint that Kylo Ren may try to recruit Rey to the dark side, just as Darth Vader once tried to turn Luke.
